Lori Shea is originally from the Connecticut shoreline and Block Island, RI. After college studies in Mexico, Washington, DC and Miami, she was providing consulting, accounting, sales and marketing services to the hospitality industry in Miami Beach and Key West until the early 2000’s. Lori first arrived in Rio Dulce, Guatemala aboard a sailboat in 2005 and started Guatemala Medical Travel in 2009. She designed and developed the “Central America Doctors” on-line medical directories in 2016, which are now under new ownership.
Ana Luisa Pérez
Patient Services Coordinator
Ana Luisa has lived in the United States working as a Certified Healthcare Interpreter™, simultaneous translator, and patient access specialist with 20 years of experience. She uses EPIC digital medical document sharing software and worked at world renowned medical centers in Chicago and Texas. Ana Luisa has returned to Guatemala to support the Guatemala Medical Travel patients as an advocate, business manager and trusted companion throughout their medical experience.
Ann Catane, RN, BSN
Ann grew up in a medical family in the Philippines. She worked in the family’s hospital as a teen-ager and earned her degree in nursing in 1992. Ann traveled around the world as a personal flight attendant with the Royal Family of Brunei for four years before settling in Chicago. Ann now lives in Guatemala with her two sons. Her varied background in both world travel and medical care has been a great asset to the Guatemala Medical Travel team since 2011.
Jade Parker- Manderson, RN, BSN
Jade is originally from Australia where she was a university level instructor in nursing, public health, pediatrics and first aid. She travelled the world with various international health organizations, providing medical attention to underserved rural areas and then settled in Guatemala in 2015. Jade lives with her husband and daughter in Guatemala City, and stays busy as director of Nursing Heart, Inc. and Baby Steps first aid training. We are grateful to have Jade as an advisor and contributor to Guatemala Medical Travel.
Karin Rudberg, RN, BSN
Karin grew up in Sweden and earned her degree in nursing in 2010, then earned a master’s degree in International Public Health. She attended specialized university programs on infectious diseases in Nicaragua and Africa, which led to work in global health issues. She has also worked in orthopedic and cardiology hospitals in Norway. Karin’s devotion to preventive health and nutrition is evident through her participation in the Caoba Organic Farms in Antigua, Guatemala.
Megan McMillin, RN, BSN
Megan completed her professional degrees, a BS in nursing and a BA in economics, in Tucson, AZ and Denver, CO. She has provided patient evaluation and treatment in cardiovascular, post-operative and hospice care in various settings. As a Spanish-speaker, Megan has been able to achieve high goals in volunteer programs in Rio Dulce, Guatemala and throughout Central America.
